Open Summer Seasonal Positions:

Assistant Pool Manager
This employee will work under the supervision of the Pool Manager.  Duties include scheduling and management of employees, record keeping and operation of pool equipment.  Management skills are required and lifeguard certification and WSI certification are preferred.  Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Pool Lifeguards
These employees are required to have or obtain a lifeguard certification ad be current with CPR training.  Successful applicants will serve as lifeguards and will be involved in the teaching of swimming lessons.  Cleaning of the pool and of the pool facility will be required.  Those who are WSI certified with be paid a higher salary.  Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Pool Office Staff
Successful applicants will work in the office and will be responsible for the sale of admissions to the pool and the sale of concessions.  Cleaning of the pool and of the pool facility will be required.  Minimum age requirement is 14.  Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Street and Parks Summer Positions
Successful candidates will assist with mowing, park & cemetery maintenance, utility maintenance, recycling or landfill.  Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Code Enforcement (Contractor)

The City of Oakley is looking for a qualified independent contractor – either an individual or entity for Code Enforcement Services.  The Contractor will not be an employee of the City of Oakley, will work within their own time frame and will not be subject to any employment rules nor qualify for any employee benefits.
The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for inspecting properties within the City of Oakley, responding to complaints and enforcing City codes and guidelines including codes related to health nuisances, junked motor vehicles, weeds, minimum housing code, etc. This contractor should possess excellent communication and public relations skills.

Police Officer

The City of Oakley, KS is accepting applications for Police Officer.  This is  a full time position with a great benefit package including: KPERS retirement, paid full family insurance, sick leave, holiday pay, vacation, and all equipment supplied with the exception of boots.

Non certified starting salary is $14.36/hr. with an increase of $1.00 per hour upon KLETC certification.

Kansas Certified salary is negotiable depending on qualifications.

Must be a United States Citizen, 21 years old by the time of hire, High School diploma or GED, satisfy all requirements as set forth in K.S.A. 74-5605, have or be able to obtain a valid Kansas driver's license, must pass an extensive background check, interview board, psychological test, and drug screen. Must not have been charged or convicted of domestic violence, no felony convictions(s), including any felony conviction(s) that have been expunged.  Kansas Certification is preferred.
